How It Started

It started the way most good things do — helping out a friend. A flat here, a drivetrain tune there, a brake adjustment before a big ride. I'd been working on my buddies' bikes for years doing basic fixes, and always had this idea in the back of my head: a low-cost, fast-turnaround bike shop I'd open in retirement. No markup, no week-long wait, just get people back on the road.

Then a friend called the bluff. Why wait for retirement? So here we are. Bluff Road Bike Co — doing the basics, done right and done fast, right now out of Greenwood, Indiana.

The Name & Logo

Bluff Road Bike Co Logo

The Name

Bluff Road Bike Co is short, honest, and local. Bluff Road is where we're based, bikes are what we do, and Co makes it official. Everyone just calls it The Bluff — and that works too.

The Bison

Bison have deep roots in Indiana history. They once migrated through southern Indiana along a path known as the Buffalo Trace — a well-worn route between the prairies of Illinois and the oak savannahs of Kentucky. The bison appears on the Indiana state seal, has been part of the state's identity since territorial days in 1800, and was named America's official national mammal in 2016.

It's a fitting symbol for a shop built on strength, endurance, and moving forward.

The Stars

The gold stars mirror the Indiana state flag — nineteen stars representing Indiana as the 19th state admitted to the Union. The red stars are a nod to Florida, where we lived for a few years — inspired by the red X on the Florida state flag. Two states, one logo.
